I have searched here and on Google but everything I can find on single frame capture relates to getting a frame out of AVI but not from live video from the tuner.
I have ATi TV Wonder VE and I have tried a few programs like Virtualdub and Virtualvcr but none of them does just one lousy frame. They all expect to do video in AVI (and multiple BMP with VD)
I have tried to use ATi MMC but the version 9 refuses to install. Install windows shows up with prgress bar but then it closes with no error message and no files where it's supposed to be I have the older MMC 7.1 on CD that came with the TV Wonder but I don't remember where they are!I'm DLing 8.9 as I type to see if it works or not.
If ATi program doesn't offer the feature, can you suggest such screen capture program? All I want is to grab a few frames out of the video tape and I don't want to capture the entire tape just for a few frames. Using Print Screen key doesn't work because the video's overlaid and won't show up in this manner.
TIA

Just capture a few seconds of the tape containg the scene you want to capture the still from. Use Virtual Dub to get to the exact frame you want, the select Video-->Copy from source frame to clipboard. Paste it to your favorite paint program.
