I have a Pinnacle external PCTV USB mpeg capture device and also an ASUS 9180 VGA with VIVO.
I am capturing using both, and I did some tests comparing the results.
I notice that when capturing TV from the video out of my VCR connected either to the PCTV or the ASUS, the picture sharpness (especially at the frame boundaries) is better with the PCTV compared with the ASUS capture card.
Nothing to do with codecs (I configure the ASUS to capture at 10Mbps and the VIVO capture with hufyuv).
To me, it looks like something to do with the way the VIVO board "scans" the video signal, like a low frequency response issue on the capture chips.
Has anyone that is using both dedicated capture equipment and a VIVO board noticed the same thing?
