Hello all. Been backing up all of my DVDs in my collection and everything has been working just about as good as it could be. But I do want to "improve" one aspect of my ripping/backing-up procedure.
After helping a friend set-up their DVD Shrink & DVD Decryptor on their computer, I realized that after analyzing (if needed) and encoding a DVD, it would AUTOMATICALLY start the BURNING process with DVD Decryptor. Now, to most this would probably sound stupid because that is the way it's SUPPOSED to be - BUT, for some odd reason, EVERY SINGLE TIME I DO THIS it burns it onto my Hard Drive, and then I have to run DVD Decryptor myself and take that extra step.
I USED to have Nero, but that version never worked with DVD Shrink, so it burned it to my HD. I tried changing the setting in DVD Shrink, I tried re-installing DVD Shrink many times, and I completely took Nero OFF of my computer, but yet it ONLY recognizes that I have Nero, not DVD Decryptor, and I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO
Basically I want DVD Shrink to automatically jump to BURNING with DCD Decryptor INSTEAD of taking that extra step to burn to my HD... don't get me wrong, the good thing about burning to the HD first is that I can check out the quality to make sure that it is "good enough" to back-up on my blank DVD+R. Also, I've been doing it like this for over 4 months and I am used to it, but I'd love to be able to skip that extra step and it really bugs me that this works with NO PROBLEMS on 2 other of my frined's computer, but NOT mine
I'd like to have the entire procress completed without the need of my being there to manually run DVD Decryptor - WHAT CAN I DO???
Thanks

Anyone???
Can someone run through some options of what I can do to get this entire process to work correctly with these 2 programs (DVD Shrink & DVD Decryptor)??? Thanks again...
Dallas22 -
I know that it doesn't burn the movie onto my HD, but that is what it says it is doing, when it SHOULD be burning onto my Writer drive.
Why not just use the current version of DVD Decryptor that I already have??? I don't have Nero (just an older version which won't let me burn blank DVD's) and I don't plan on buying it especially when DVD Decryptor has worked fine and is freeware. Decryptor, for some unknown reason, has AUTOMATICALLY started burning as soon as Shrink completes the encoding process, so I KNOW this can be done, but I need help in RE-Configuring it or something... I'm lost guys... please help.
Thanks

You dont need nero... Just set the output of the latest DVD SHRINK to iso image then you can set DVD Decrypter to burn automatically.
When you click on Backup..under Target Device Tab select Target Device "ISO Disc Image" then check the box to burn with DVD Decryptor. -
Hi Dallas22,
I think this is what you're looking for in DVD Shrink:
It comes up once you've clicked on the "Backup!" main icon.
Hope that helps. There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.
Carpe diem.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room. -
It won't let me do that
It says when I go to preferences that I can click to burn with Nero, which is completly removed from my computer. So I un-clicked it and it says under the Target Device tag that I need to Download Nero so that I can burn with it. It's doesn't give me ANY options to butn with DVD Decrypter.
Now I'm stuck with no way of burning DVDs

Make Sure you have the latest download--- go and download the latest version.. Its pretty obvious you dont have the latest version. Also you wont get the option to burn with dvd decryptor until you hit backup first!!!
-
That is because that version of shrink was designed to use nero.
-
Gitreel,,
You are mistaken the latest version works with both Nero and DVD Decryptor. -
ok. I never use decrypter to burn. I use nero. I use decrypter to rip.
-
Ahh, ok... I think I've got it now. I will try it later to make sure, but here is what I did.
I removed both programs, DVD Shrink & DVD Decrypter and then went to the websites and RE-downloaded the NEWEST versions. Then after installing BOTH programs first, then I went into DVD Shrink and when I went to ISO image in the Target Device tag, it gave me the options to burn with DVD Decrypter. It had first (I guess automatically) had it set to burn with Nero (even AFTER I disabled it in the preferences options menu) or my other option was to just copy the files right into my HD with the Hard Disk Folder option. But once I clicked ISO Disc Image it gave me that Decrypter option. I just adjusted the Folder I wanted that ISO file to go into and I am hoping that it will work.
Finally, IF this does work, would I also be able to just copy the files into my HD if I wanted to check the quality of a DVD first??? Would I just go to Hard Disk Folder? And can I run my DVD Decrypter on it's own after doing that?
Thanks again for all the help guys!!!

You can just unckeck the setting in shrink that states burn with nero or decrypter. That would allow you to do whatever.

Use Decrypter to copy the files to you hard drive.
> Would I just go to Hard Disk Folder?
Yes- use Shrink to open the folder with the files ripped by Decrypter.
> And can I run my DVD Decrypter on it's own after doing that?
I'm not sure what you're asking- You can run Decrypter on it's own anytime. What do you want it to do after that? -
Hello guys... Just wanted to let you all know that I finally got it to work using the procedures that I posted in my previous post. Works great and skips that step which extended the copy process about 15 minutes.
Thanks for all your help.

Bob, if you'd like to check the ISO first, just untick the burn with DVDDecrypter box. Let DVDShrink finish. Open Daemon Tools and mount the ISO on the virtual drive. Watch it on Zoom Player, Media Player Classic, BS Player, or whatever you have. Glad to hear you got it sorted.
Pull! Bang! Darn!
