  1. First off, I always do high speed dubs to dvds. I usually always add chapter marks on the programs, but sometimes I don't care exactly where the chapter marks are. Is there some way to get the dvd recorder to put it's own chapter marks in like it does when youd don't do a high speed dub (every 5 min.). This would save alot of time of not having to go in and manually put the chapter marks in.

    Thanks

  2. Nope. If you haven't manually added chapter marks then none are created automatically when dubbing HS.

I just recently got a Panasonic DMR-E80, am still experimenting with it, and am mostly recording to hard drive in SP mode then HD to DVD-R in high speed. Am having trouble creating chapter marks. To save time and spent discs, I was just wondering if the following is true for the E80:

    1. If you manually created chapter marks on the HD, is this is the only way to get chapters on DVDrs with high speed dubbing?

    2. If you don't create chapters, will recording from HD to DVDr in real-time automatically create chapters on finished disc?

    Thank you for any help.

  4. Johnny,

    1. YES
    2. YES, however, dubbing in realtime forces a reencoding of the material and thus quality loss. For a true lossless dub HS must be used. Making your own chapter marks isn't difficult. If you want a quick and dirty way, use the timeslip button to forward ahead 5/10 minutes at a time and press the market button. Continue forward. Done.
