    when i had cable this worked
    but i just recently switched to adsl and

    how come when i plug the modem straight to my computer it works

    but if i connect the modem to my router WAN part
    and connected my computer to one of the slots and it doesnt work anymor

    Router model?

    You may need to set up your DSL in the router. Is therouter configured correctly as your gateway?
