how do i check for bad frames when mp3 freeze tells me every frame is bad?
have avi file which g spot tells me video codec is DivX5.0 audio mpeg-1 layer 3. stream type open dml avi.
i use gary's guide avi to svcd 3 step foolproof guide to covert my files but this file has me stumped.
ran it through virtual dub mp3 freeze build 1.4c to check for bad frames and it said EVERY frame was bad. when i checked file info decompressor was Xvid mpeg4 codec.
file plays perfectly with windows media plyer, but what do i have to do or use to check if there are any bad frames

Have you got a proper XviD codec installed?
DivX will "decode" the file, and play in WMP, but that doesn't mean you can ENcode it in tmpgenc or similar.
Here's my method for checking for bad frames:
1) Load the .AVI file (DivX-compressed or otherwise) into the most recent version of either VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod
2) Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copy"
3) Select "Check for errors"
4) Select "Mask bad frames"
5) Save with a new filename
Then try and import your "Repaired" AVI file in TMPGEnc.Cheers, Jim
