Making VCDs

Hi,
Does anybody have any idea which blank CD-Rs are the best for making VCDs - i.e. which brands are compatible with the most DVD players? Also, does anybody know how legal it is to sell VCDs of popular TV programmes on eBay is?

Simple answer it is ILLEGAL , unless of course you own the rights to the programmes which I suspect you probably don't.

The best media is whatever is cheapest that works. One type may work in one player but not another, no guarantees.
Simple answer, it's illegal. Nobody would want to buy VCD's of old reruns anyhow. Even SVCD's would be difficult to part with.

about selling VCD of TV programs. There seems to be a gray area on that. I see so many shows that have not been release on VHS or DVD being offered up for sale on E-bay, especially programs that are not seen in the Uniited States. Jap anime, british comedy, etc... When these shows do make it to US release they are to close the auction. This goes for retail stores that sell imports of DVD. once the anouncement of a Import DVD to be offered in a US release they are to pull it from the shelves because a US company now own the rights to that show or movie. So if you offer TV shows on any media you do so at your own risk.

Grey area ? I don't think so. If your making money off someones copyrighted work without permission that's theft. I mean as far as I know the latest series of Friends hasn't been released here in the UK yet - do you think I could cap them all, burn to DVD and sell them ?
