  1. Hello, I want to change the bitrate of a file I have so it will work in a dvd player. Do I have to re encode the file again or is there a program that will let me change the bitrate without re encoding the movie? Thanx in advance.

Why are you sure it won't work as it is now?

  3. I'm using TMPEnc DVD Author to put it on a dvd right now, but it said it might not work. I'm going to try it, I just wanted to know if there was a way in case this doesn't work or if this happens again.

What exactly is the msg that TMPGEnc DVD author is giving you?

Also how did you encode the file i.e., what bitrate parameters did you use originally? Also don't forget audio type and bitrate.

DVDShrink or other similar transcoders are the only method that I know of lowering the bitrate (ie shrinking the file size) without re-encoding.

Rejig works too if you movie is still in mpg form. You'll have to demux to m2v though first.
