For the most part, Iran's legal system is based entirely on Islamic Law. The Shi'a version, to be more specific. I don't even think they bother to accept ICJ jurisdiction with reservations.
In other words, their law is based solely on their religious teachings. -

Very scary. Look at Waco, Texas. Those people were acting on the order's of their Chosen Prophet. And they all went to the grave with him. The only real question is, how many of them truly wanted to stand up for him, and how many were cornered into doing it by him?
That's why there are a lot of groups that fight any notion that government sponsors religion in any form. They haven't forgotten the real reason that 'freedom of religion' was written into the Constitution, they just see the need to promote secularism as a way to combat discrimination and preferential treatment.
I think they are all full of shit, but I'm just one voter with no horde of laundered money to buy my beliefs with the judges in this country. -
