I had a hard time finding this in the guides, so I am just wondering if there is a procedure to create a DVD on a CD-R? The video file I am going to burn will be less than 700MB, so it would be a waste otherwise.

700mb should be fine. Just author the disc as you would any other DVD. You probably already know this but Nero has a miniDVD template, but you'll still need to author the VIDEO_TS folder first.

dvd lab has a "mini dvd" option, but that didn't work for my dvd player.
but you can download a shareware version and test it for yourself.

Doesn't seem to work for mine, either. Most infuriating.

I just burnt a mini-DVD using Nero6. Works fine on the PC, doesn't play in all 3 of my DVD players.

I normally just use TMPGenc DVD Author to author and convert to ISO, then Nero to burn. It plays on 1 DVD player but not the other.

I think you'll find that mini-DVD support is pretty scarce on most DVD players.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  7. Mini DVDs do not play on most older players. I have a Sony and Panasonic and they will not accept a mini DVD. But I have a cheapie Amphion Media Works player that plays them ok. If you are really into mini DVDs I would recommend that you get a recent player but be sure to verify that it will play the mini. Most stores, including Circuit City, will permit you to test a media before purchase.

Thanks. I will give it a spin, although I really have no compelling reason to do the mini-DVD other than wanting to keep a certain featurette.
