  1. Hi ...

I have a "wmv" file (a music video) I want to put onto cd-rom. I understand I have to convert it to either avi or mpeg1. How do I do this?

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks

  2. WMV is a type of AVI.

How do you want it on a CD-ROM? Do you want a VCD? Are you playing on a standalone DVD player? Does it support AVI? Just not sure how to tackle this question.

I think the most likely thing you're asking about is making a VCD to play in a standalone. You'd probably be best off using TMPGEnc - it's widely supported and there are lots of guides for it. If you look to the left-hand side of your screen you'll find a whole load of guides under "Convert" that will deal with what you need. I've found a good one to save you the trouble this time:

    Hope this gets you started,

  3. Hi again & thanks for amazingly quick reply.

I have tried using TMPgenc, and it works great for the other avis / mpegs I have already got, but it doesn't even see the wmv in the folder I have chucked all the avis etc in .....

    Cheers

When browsing for your WMV make sure you move the "Files Of Type" slider to "all files".
