  1. i encoded a video i had and had it split up audio and video because there was something wrong and according to threads it told me to extract audio seperatly and use that with video. for some reason after video encoded it skips and freezes the whole video and it made the video 3 hours something when the actual video is about 1 hour and a half and thus the file size was much longer. what can i do to resolve this problem. i encoded it partly once before and this didnt happen but i dont know what i did differently. thanks to anyone who can help me out.

  2. little bit more detail on what processes you took to encode would be helpful. I have a feeling this has something to do with the framerate you used.

  3. when i did it i followed this guide
    http://www.lancey.info/tutorial/divx2dvd.html
though i think the average video bitrate was set for 3000 and the video file size said 7000 something mb.

  4. what was the framerate of the original file and what framerate did you convert it to?

  5. the original file says 23 frames/sec i dont have the old file still cause i got rid of it cause of size but i went back into program and it says its going to encode at 23.976 frames/sec. i dont know if this helps but i also had a problem where tmpgenc said the file was much longer then it was and i read that it was something with the sound and to divide it into video and audio and then use a seperate audio that i had ripped from it with another program. also it seems like its a weird aspect ration 608x256, i dont know if this affects anything

  6. well generally if your source is 23.97 and you are encoding for dvd, you will want to use 23.97 fps with 3:2 pulldown. if you are having problems with the audio portion, you can demux the audio from the file and process the audio and video separately and then multiplex them later on.

    the aspect ratio is anamorphic.

Here's a great tip: don't ever ever ever delete your source until you're satisfied with the end result.
