  1. I'm a definite "newbie"

Using a Sony PCG GRT 360 Notebook. Have Click to DVD, Drag and Drop DVd and Nero 7.0 Have captured analog video to HD. When making DVD (Have tried +/-) it can only be read on machine creating it, not on a compaq DVD WR or stand alone player

Lately NERO 7.0 copies for about 10 minutes and then comes up with some internal error, but Drag to DVD will produce DVD that is not readable on any machine but this

I don't know where to start

Not much of what you have said makes sense, but here goes.

There is no Nero 7. Current version is 6.x. Are you sure you are using Nero ?

If Nero (or whatever burning software you are using) comes up with an error, that's a pretty good sign that something is screwed, so it's not surprising that it doesn't work.

I would suggest that the error is stoppping the disc from being finalised, which would produce these sorts of symptoms. Come back with more details, such as the actual program you are using to burn, and what the error message is, and we might be able to help.

  4. My error, it is Nero 6.0

I am using Sony PCG-GRT 360 ZG Notebook.

I first used Sony's "giga pocket" recorder to record video from a VCR to HD. I then used the "drag and drop" DVD recorder that came with the machine to make a DVD on a DVD-R. It works fine on this machine only

I have tried to use Nero unsuccessfully to record the same analog video

I used Nero Express "Burn DVD" then create DVD movie without success. I then used Nero to copy the DVD I made with the Drag and drop DVD to a DVD+R disc, no problem but playable on this machine only

If you need more info to help, just tell me what and where to find info and I will be grateful for any and all help

And yes, when making the original DVD I did select "Data DVD" as that was the only option that appeared.

    Thanks

    Tom

  5. A data dvd is just that, data, not a video, and definitely not dvd compliant for use in standalone players.
Although the software you mention is unfamiliar, I can tell you that there is plenty of other software that is easy to use, that WILL create great dvds.

Could be a combination of using NERO and poor quality media.

If possible try burning with another application other than NERO and use a really high quality DVD-R disc (Taiyo Yuden or Maxell for instance).

Just prior to the NERO stage what does your DVD look like on your HDD? Do you have a VIDEO_TS folder with DVD files in it (i.e., IFO, VOB, BUP etc.)?

If so then you can use the FREEWARE program ImgTools (the classic version) along with the FREEWARE program DVD Decrypter to BURN the DVD.

Not only FREEWARE but also one of the best ways to burn a compliant compatable DVD ... assuming your DVD files are compliant to begin with.
