  2. Try ramelectronics.com for great cables and conversion boxes, switchers. They sell excellent stuff at good prices and quick delivery in the US. I have bought from them 4 times and have been well satisfied.

If your are talking about a KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) switch box, go check www.tomshardware.com. They ran a couple of benchmarks a few weeks back. They tried some basic ones and some that could even switch audio and USB (sorry, no firewire).

Are you sure that is the correct link?

I can't find nothing for sale there ... they just seem to do ... well I'm not even sure. Something about building electrical products as per your instructions or something.

I see nothing about video stuff like cables and switches etc.

    *** EDIT ***
    Correction ...
    The website is here: http://www.ramelectronics.net

At least I assume that is the website since they have A/V stuff for sale. Please note I thought to put .net at the end. You used .com which is some other website as I indicated.

I think you might be interested in the JVC switchers. They make one that has firewire switching though that particular model is actually very expensive.

This is from the JVC website:

    JX-S111 - Black model
    JX-S111S - Silver model

    Manufacturer's suggested retail price: $149.95
    Video Signal Format: NTSC
AV inputs: 4 lines (incl. 2 S-Video jacks)
AV outputs: 2 lines (incl. 1 S-Video jack)
    3 Component Inputs Line 1 - 3
Monitor output: 1 line (incl. 1 S- Video jack)

That is a nice "passive" A/V switcher. Passive means it needs no power.

Below are the other JVC models which are "active" meaning they need AC power:

JX-S555 (black model no silver model available)
    Manufacturer's suggested retail price: $649.95
    AV Input: 5 lines ( S-Video, Video, Audio L/R)
AV Output: 4 lines (S-Video, Video, Audio L/R)
    Component input: 2 lines
    Monitor output: 2 lines
    Optical inputs: 2

JX-S777 (black model no silver model available)
    Manufacturer's suggested retail price: $799.95
    AV Input: 8 lines ( S-Video, Video, Audio L/R)
AV Output: 5 lines (S-Video, Video, Audio L/R)
    Component input: 2 lines
    Monitor output: 2 lines
    DV input/outputs: 3

Many high end A/V websites carry the JX-S555 and the JX-S777 but ironically the cheaper JX-S111(S) model is hard-to-find for some reason.

Well I take that back I just entered, "JX-S111" into pricegrabber and a bunch of places came up with the lowest price being $74.98 which ain't bad considering the MSRP is $149.95

  7. Speaking of switchers, when I am comparing S-Video convertors/switchers if it is inside of a reciever it adds like $200 to the price tag. Some cheaper switchers/upconvertors sell at the most for $80 at Radioshack, are they the same quality or is the picture worse?

I've seen some Pioneer flagship recievers that upconvert to component; is there an external convertor that can be bought? There is this one switcher at Best Buy (by Pelican) that is n Composite, S-Video, Component video switcher with the same outputs, does any have one? Does it upconvert to s-video or component?
