Hi, I have an avi which I need to insert subtitles into. I have followed the guides but nothing has worked. There always seems to be some problem like something won't open properly, etc.. The subtitle is in .srt form. I have converted it to .ssa. Please Help!

And you used the SSA subtitle with the TextSub filter in Virtual Dub mod? The TextSub filter comes with VobSub.
Hello. -
You could tell me what happened. My picture is a from a VOB with a SSA sub displayed by the TextSub filter in Virtual Dub mod.
Hello. -
in virtualdubmod, instead of saving as avi, go to the streams list, add the .srt (i think) and save as ogm.
then, open it in media player classic and your subtitles problem is solved.
ogm is a a much better container, since it supports subtitles, chapters, and switchable audio streams, with less hassle to set it up.poop. -
SRTs require IDX files to work. I wish I knew where to get them.
Hello. -
I have the subtitler plugin. I can't find any textsub file on the internet. Converting the file to .ogm made it very large (4 gigs for 5 min of video) so I aborted it. I don't think that was normal to be that big. In terms of what happened when I tried using virtual dub mod before was that, for one, I don't seem to know how to do it properly, and second the guides want me to use vobsub, which won't even let me open anything (gives an error, wrong format).
