  1. Sorry for my noobism.

Anyway I created some clips with tmpeg. Made them 500mb each so I could fit about 8 on a disc. When I load them up in NVE2, its showing the file size as 690mb . Any idea what is going on here?
If I cant fit it, is there any way I can still use nve2 to make my menus, and then author it else where?

    Thanks

I think what is happening is NVE is transcoding the audio from mp2 to lpcm, I just tested NVE on a 338 meg MPEG2 I had on hand and got a VOB size of 456Meg. I checked the audio and the vob had 150 meg, while the mpeg2 file had 38 meg.

If you expand the 'More' tab on NVE and then select 'Video Options', there's a tab, 'DVD Video', that has a box on the bottom for setting the audio to Dolby AC3 and you can make that your default.

I did this and the resulting VOB when I retested NVE was 322Meg.

  4. Yeah, thanks to Nero for making us BUY the AC3 and MPG encoder plugins.
I gave up on Nero just because of this, and only use it to burn.
Use different authoring software, and you shouldn't have this problem.
Try TMPGEnc DVD Author, DVDLab, Ulead DVD 2, etc. All have at least 30 day trials.

  6. Ok I already had the mpg plugin. Is the ac3 one different? By the looks on their website, it should be part of the plugin I have. It would seem that switching to ac3 will solve my problems, is there any other reason why my box would be greyed out on LPCM? Or is there any other way around this?

I usually use tmpeg dvd author, but I wanted some nice menus on this one. and I checked out dvdlab, but dont have the time to learn to use it. NVE makes easy and attractive menus.
Man I hate it when one little problem screws up a whole big project.

    thanks again

  7. I posted the same question, how to get AC3 or MP* in Nerovision Express.
I got no answers. It seems nobody knows except Nero, and they aren't telling.
    I ended up learning DVDLab.
Even wrote a tutorial on it, which might help you get it sorted: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=220092

Sorry.. lost track of this thread after a three day hiatus for other things.

Nero has a plugin that adds the AC3 audio encoding. According to their website, it comes with the latest edition of Nero 6 Ultra Edition, so you may get it with just the latest download.

  10. Nero's AC3 plugin works, as advertised, when ENCODING avi to dvd (something I would never let Nero do, ever!). It does NOT allow you to use it in Nerovision Express when AUTHORING.
    Thanks for nothing Nero
