  1. I've been trying to convert .vob files to AVI for use in Vegas 5. I've found using DVD2AVI in conjunction with the VFAPIconv plugin allows me to do the video half, but I still haven't gotten the audio to work correctly. In DVD2AVI and VirtualDub the extracted .wav files are glicthy and also don't sync up correctly with the AVI... it's close, but off just enough to be noticeable and drive me nuts.

    So I'm wondering:

1.) Does anyone have any suggestions for what software I should use for good, reliable .wav extraction from a .vob file? I use Windows XP Home.

2.) I've been trying for the last two hours to get the trial of #1 DVD Audio Ripper to work on my machine but it won't. I tried the .exe file, it just opens and quits really quickly. I then downloaded the new driver as their site suggested and installed it, rebooted... still doesn't work. I then used their sysregistry updater, rebooted, still doesn't work. I tried looking around for the suggested manual tag change in regedit but I can't seem to find it. Can anyone help me out?

    Thanks for your help!

  2. Care to try a different version of DVD2AVI.

    decodefix110.zip is a fixed DVD2AVI available at:

  3. you can use DVD2AVI to create a project and the will create the .wav

    go to Audio/Output Method/Decode to WAV(AC3,LPCM)

    go to File/Save Project [F4]

this will create the .wav and a .d2v file which you can load into TMPGenc and encode an .mpg
make sure you have a copy dvd2avi.vfp in tmpgenc folder so it will know what the .d2v file is.

dvd2avi should extract the wav and list the delay. Just put this wav through besweet and use the time delay feature and go from wav to wav.
