  1. hello. i found Sefy's guide here
https://www.videohelp.com/sefy/?id=divx2vcd.html to be very useful for helping me to successfully encode DivX ripped DVD movies w/ mp3 audio so that there is no audio off-set (a problem that i was previously unable to get around w/ TMPGEnc and lame.exe, and AVI choppers, or any combination thereof)

using Sefy's guide, i discovered MainConcept's MPEG Encoder, which as the guide suggests, does appear to encode faster than TMPGEnc (an attractive feature to me since i'm currently using a P3 450Mhz)

But unlike TMPGEnc's easy to use "Clip Frame" feature for preserving aspect ratio, w/ MainConcept's software, the user must manually adjust the aspect ratio, which is easily done perfectly by using the decimal point method (i.e.[1.80:1]) and dividing the width, in the case of my example here by 1.80 to arrive at the proper number for height (for example 352 / 1.80 = 195.5). -- i think i'm doing that right.

okay... all good, but it only worked the first couple of times, but every time thereafter, the output video from MainConcept is sort of stacked one on top of another... two versions of the same video... almost like a mirror image on the horizon (not mirrored really-- but an exact replica)

anyone have an idea what might be wrong? if i left out needed info for you to respond, just ask...

    thanks

  2. Could you upload a snapshot of the problem, i'm not sure I understand the problem you described (sorry!) and it would help me understand better, Oh, there is also a newer v1.4.2 of MainConcept (which one are you using ?) and lastly, when did this problem start ?

Sometimes a problem can be due to conflicting programs which replaced a DLL or something, maybe even a certain codec in the system.
