  1. Not sure if this problem is to do with a faulty dvd player (Eclipse 695)or an old t.v.set. My technical knowledge is crap.
Vcds always play perfectly well, but my t.v screen pulses between bright and then dark almost every second of playback with Dvds. The t.v is a Fisher 19 inch fst (also known as Phillips) and is 18 years old. Is it perhaps that the t.v can't cope with the high resolution of dvds ot that my player is faulty?? Someone please help! Thanx...

  2. You said that your tv was 18 years old. I'm guessing that it doesn't have hookups for your dvd player to connect to (only coax). So you may be using a vcr in between the tv and the dvd player. Macrovision or whatever the copyright protection is on the dvd is cause the picture to get bright then get dim. It was made to do that so people don't make copies of dvd movies on their vcr's. You can get around this problem by buying an RF modulator that lets you hookup the AV connections from your dvd player to the modulator then hooking up a coax cable from the modulator directly to your tv. If you don't have a vcr between then I don't know what the problem is.

    Good luck.
    Chris.

  3. Chrishad95 - Thanks for the info. You're right about the vcr being used as the go between. The only problem is that the t.v does actually have a scart socket, and the only reason I stopped hooking up direct to the dvd player was because of the extremely dim picture (all background of movies was in total shadow, when playing vcds). I'd never tried it with dvds at that point.
When I then connected up to the vcr, and the vcr to the t.v the whole picture brightened up. Shame it doesn't work for dvds this way though. I'll try what you said with a Rf modulator. Thanx....
