There are plenty of things to do and to sightsee.
You can walk around the center of the city on foot, go on tram rides around the city, have a look at Fisherman’s Wharf; ferry cruise over the bay near the Golden Gate Bridge, this would be an experience and fun for you.
A tour and visit to Alcatraz Island would an interest.
There are plenty of restaurants in San Francisco too.
San Francisco in my experience was the coolest place to stay in America at this time of the year.
I was there just 10 years ago, just before returning to Sydney after a long, long U.S. summer vacation.I am a computer and movie addict -
I thought my visist to Alcatraz was pretty interesting. They won't lock you in the cells anymore, because one of the cells malfunctioned and wouldn't reopen and the tourists missed their flight. Nice boat ride to and from there though as it takes you under the Golden Gate Bridge.Originally Posted by ChrisXHello.

I've been to San Francisco but never to the rock. Did it look like in the movie The Rock, or was the movie set hollywood-ized?Originally Posted by Tommyknocker

Pretty much. It hasn't changed that much over the years. It is a cold, mean place.Originally Posted by CapmasterHello.

Since it looks like in the movie, that would pretty much "deter" me, if I were of that bent. Nasty, damp, dirty placeOriginally Posted by Tommyknocker

I did get the chance to have a look at "The Castro" while in San Francisco.Originally Posted by zzyzzx
I remember riding on a subway to "The Castro" and not much to see and do there. I was bored.
I enjoyed the subway ride on a nice day though.I am a computer and movie addict
