I have a movie with 2 languages in 1 audio stream. The audio stream is AC3. How can I figure out in which channels both languages are located? I do not have AC3 capable equipment and have only 2 speakers.
When I play the movie I hear both languages mixed coming from my 2 speakers.
When I know in which channel(s) one of the languages is located can I use Headac3he or BeSweet to separate the channels I want?
Thanks
Al B.

It is a DivX AVI with AC3 audio stream.
I do not think the header is damaged, because the name of the movie states that there are 2 languages but I didn't expect them to be mixed.
G-Spot says: ac3 (0x2000) "Dolby Laboratories, Inc" for the audio stream.
I say "mixed" because I hear them coming from my 2 speakers at once. Probably they are not mixed nut that's how I experience them coming from 2 speakers.
Whichever program I use to play this AVI, both languages are coming from my 2 speakers at the same time.
I do not think someone is that stupid to produce a movie that has 2 languages that are mixed so I think they are in different channels. I only have to figure out which channels. So I need a program that can let me hear every channel of the AC3 stream so I can figure out which channels contain the language I want.

Just quickly, open in Media Player Classic.
https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=220#comments
Media Player Classic has a built in audio switcher that will choose one audio stream or the other. Windows Media Player doesn't include this by default, you have to install something called Morgan Stream Switcher or else both streams will play simultaneously.
Does it play with one audio stream in Media Player Classic?
(not yet important if it plays the incorrect stream) -
besweet can dephlogisticate your ac3 file into six mono streams or 2 mono streams
I do not think someone is that stupidCorned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.

@au7usa
There is only 1 audio stream. I think the 2 languages are in LF+RF for 1 language and LR+RR for the other language, but it could also be completely different. Maybe 2 mono channels instead of stereo.
@RabidDog
I need a bit of help with what you are suggesting. It would be nice to decode the AC3 audio stream into 6 mono streams in separate WAV files. This way it is easy to find the channel(s) I want.
I tried the "Input channel configuration" and "Output speaker configuration" of Azid but all I got was the wrong language.
The good thing is that I hear only 1 language but it was the wrong one so it seems to be working.
The bad thing is that I do not seem to know what I am doing with AC3 in BeSweet. I tried all channels, at least I think I did, and always got a silent stream or the wrong language.
Please give me a push in the right direction. -
@au7usa
On second thought, you might be right. GSpot says that there are 2 audiostreams.
Sorry about the confusion.
I have the Morgan stream switch installed and am able to switch to the other stream but only using MPlayer2.exe (the old Windows Media Player).
I want to convert the movie with this audio stream to MPEG2 and "normal" stereo. When I have the second AC3 stream I know what to do to get what I want. How do I extract/demux this second AC3 stream from the AVI?
Thanks again.

I have the same problem I think...
I have a Xvid file which is both english and german. If I play in Windows Media Player, it plays both languages at the same time. Using Divx player or BSPlayer, I can select the either stream - unfortunately the default is German.
I'd like to completely strip out the foreign language track, so I can burn it to a DVD.
Is this the same problem as Al is having?
I'm very new to this, but havn't been able to find anything related on the site.
Thanks. -

Al Bundy can also use VirtualDubMod, but in your case, don't right-click and set full processing mode. Instead of "Save WAV", click on "Demux". (This is just to get a hold of the audio stream. You may decide to reencode to another format, and then remux your old Video Stream to your new Audio Stream into a new AVI.)
You can decode the output (AC3) with whatever application you've decided on. BeSweet will let you transcode to MP3 or numerous other formats.
Is AVI your final destination? -
@Robgog
It is your first posting on this forum. Don't worry about hijacking my thread. Your question is almost the same as mine.
@au7usa
The final destination is a MPEG2 file with just plain 2 channel audio (stereo) which can be played on my DreamBox satellite receiver.
Thanks to your input and also from teegee420 I managed to demux the second AC3 stream from the AVI. I used Headac3he to convert the 5.1 stream to a stereo WAV file which I can use.
CU and thanks again.

Thanks teegee. The solution worked perfectly. I'll take on board your other comments too.
Thanks Al, appreciated. It looked like a very similar problem to me, and I was hoping for a 'Yes, same problem, and here is how you both go about fixing it' kind of answer.

Glad both of you guys got things working correctly. Robgog, I knew you were not trying to be rude, I just thought I'd let you know about "board etiquette". I didn't mean to come off like a forum cop.
