DVD Decrypter and AC3 file problem

Anyone else have a problem with DVD Decrypter when following the guide on this site for extracting AC3 files? On two computers of mine, when I attempt to rip the selected file to an AC3 file, DVD Decrypter creates a .VOB file instead of a .AC3 file. If I simply futz with it, not actually changing any settings but toggling them, eventually, it will create the .AC3 file. Bizarre. Anyone have the same problem? Again, this happens with two different PC's on multiple DVD's, following the steps in the guide on this site for extracting AC3 files from DVD's.

I've done it before but rarely do I need JUST the AC-3 audio.

So my normal proceedure is to rip in FILE mode then run the VOB files through DVD2AVI

This will create a D2V project file for using the video as well as spitting out the AC-3 and DTS audio tracks.

Works very well and doesn't take much time (i.e., DVD2AVI).

ifo mode,

select stream, then click on demux box. repeat for all streams of interest.

An AC3 stream with the delay noted in the filename is created for you.

Same process for demuxung the video stream,

etc.

Exactly what I'm doing. Only sometimes it creates a .VOB file! If I simply toggle settings a couple of times, I can eventually get it to create a .AC3 file.

If this was just one PC, or one DVD that this happened on, I'd write it off. But two PC's? Weird. Think I'll try what John Coleman suggests instead...

If you want to extract the AC3 file, try looking at AC3Tool

Its freeware, and works everytime,the interface ain't very nice, but does the job perfectly and can also convert an AC3 to WAV/MP3 as well as downsample Dolby to 2 channel if needed
