Ok, I am a newbie when it comes to video editing. I went out a week ago and bought the Pinnacle kit which included the USB 2 Movie Box and Studio 9. I paid about $200. Well, I love it so far except that I can't seem to make any MPEG movie without having a square white block made of 4 smaller square blocks that dances all over the movie after it is made. I can make .AVI and other format movies and they work fine. Any idea what the problem might be? I also seem to be having trouble getting the color and brightness to look good but that is something I am fiddling with.

    Thanks,
    Keith

P.S. One other thing is that it seems like this really crawls. I am capturing the video using RCA plugs from my DirecTV reciever and then after taking out commercials I try to save it and it has to render it which takes me about an hour and a half for a 1 hour movie. I am running on an AMD 3200+ with 1 Gig of PC3200 RAM.

Dunno what's up with your dancing dots....sounds very strange....but as for the speed converting stuff....yeah, it's not real fast. Video conversion takes time. Some programs more than others, but none of them are as fast as we'd really like them to be. My system converts at about 2.5 to 3x real time using CCE & AVISynth.

It's the Elecard MP2 decoder that's gone trial mode. Try to uninstall it.

Ok, how would I go about uninstalling it? Do I have to uninstall Studio 9?

Never mind. I found it and uninstalled it. So now the question is where do I get a free Mpeg 2 encoder? I thought it was standard with WMP or Quicktime.

    free Mpeg 2 encoder?
It's not the encoder - it's the decoder. And no, there's no mp2 decoder build into Windows (or WMP). Try reinstalling Studio 9, or install some software DVD player like PowerDVD.
