  1. Greetings:

I just purchase a Chinese movie DVD in a store. Even though it indicated on the outside of the case that it's NTSC format, I can't play it on my Standalone DVD player. One player (Pioneer) shows a jumping black & white images while the other (Sony) displays a message that I should check the TV format. When I put DVD on my computer it plays normally and show that it's in PAL format. I did return to the store for an exchange; unfortunately, this movie doesn't exist in NTSC. The movies is an oldy which I would like to keep in my collection it if there is an easy way convert a PAL to a NTSC system.

Any input and advice is greatly appreciated.

  3. Thanks for the great link.

I was hoping that there are an easier / quicker (sort of one click solution) way and less complicated for a DVD dummy like myself.
Effectively, I was reading your post and it sound all greek to me and w/o mentionning time consuming process. I keep it as a reference anyway. May be one day, I can play with it when I have spare time.

Well you can buy a DVD player that will play back a PAL DVD and convert it to NTSC format for viewing on a NTSC only TV

Some models are better than other models with pricing ranging from dirt cheap to very expensive.

I have a Cyberhome CH-DVD 500 and it works great for this and can be bought direct from the cyberhome website for $79.95 plus S&H
