  1. Hi guys.. i´ve captured an old VHS to DVD using VirtualDUB then TMPGEnc (720x480 RGB24 M-JPEG HQ and Audio 48hz PCM + De-interlace / Noise Reduction / Crop)...
The video i got was great, but the sound of the VHS were bad, "not clear"...

Here in my PC i got Sound Forge 6 and Nero 6 Wave Editor ( )...

I want to know what program/filter should i use to make the sound better, more clear (or at least try to do that)...

Thx for any help, and sorry 4 the bad english... 8)

  2. the first thing you will want to do is a simple noise reduction. I have only used Adobe Audition so thats what I'll go off of. I tell audition to get audio from a video and it sucks the audio out of the mpeg file. Then select a part thats supposed to be silent, run the noise reduction filter and choose "get profile from selection". Then select the entire track and reduce the noise to a level that you are satisfied with. Sometimes doing 100% reduction gives you an "underwater" effect. Once you get it how you want it then I would look to a little fine tuning with the graphic equalizer..you can make it sound a little "clearer" by boosting the midrange or higher frequencies..its really a matter of playing around with peices and previewing untill you get it sounding how you want. Once you have edited the sound file then you re-add it during authoring.

    hope this helps!
