Sounds like your MP3 codec is missing. Reinstall latest lame mp3 codec

  4. I guess you're using a version of Windows as your operating system

To view all audio codecs that you have installed open the System applet in the Control Panel, then open the Device Manager (it's on the Hardware tab).

Expand the Sound, video and game controllers tree.
Right-click Audio codecs and then Properties.
Now select the Properties tab on the next window.

Here you'll find all the audio codecs installed on your pc that Windows recognises - ie the ones that are available to programs such as VirtualDub.

    Look for the MP3 codec(s).

You should have at least one MP3 capable codec - the Fraunhofer codec.
This codec is installed with Windows and can encode and decode MP3.
It is however function limited - a 'lite' version only capable of encoding low bitrates.

If you want to encode to MP3 at a better quality than the Windows Fraunhofer codec will provide you need to install another (more capable) codec.

As previously posted you can try the Lame MP3 ACM - i've not tried this myself so cannot comment on it's capabilities.

Alternatively a search on say Google for 'Radium MP3 codec' will give you links to the Radium MP3 codec including downloads.
The Radium MP3 codec is fully functional, also it's recognised by Windows and therefore available in programs such as VirtualDub.

    Martin.
