  1. ok,as it says in the title,when i try to use decompress.exe on an .mkv file i get an error message could not render video stream.Any ideas?cheers.

    Are you trying to convert to mpeg or something? There are other ways to do this.

    Have you tried opening the mkv with Virtualdubmod and saving as avi? Make sure you select "direct stream copy" for the video.

    It obviously uses DirectShow to decompress AVI, & OGM (i didn't know it would work with OGM but it did). I always assumed it used its own splitter.

    Matroska doesn't work, i just tried it.

    Looks like a job for.............................VirtualDubMod!

  7. Virtualdubmod crashes when I use it. Is there some purpose to using mkv?
