is it possible to have video content that is in 16:9 and 4:3 on the same dvd? I am wondering because I recently bought a 16:9 lens at a community yard sale for $200 (no scrathes...compare that with $700 for the century optics one!), so i will begin my 16:9 capturing spree. since the lens distorts everything to fit 4:3, I am going to use ReStream to make it 16:9, but then I have this other problem...all the previous footage is in 4:3, so I am wondering..is possible to throw in both on the same DVD? I think it is possible...look at hollywood...their DVDs have a 16:9 movie and then 4:3 bonus features.

  2. Yes. I've done it with captured video from my camera. Some commercial DVD's provide both a widescreen and 4:3 format on the same disc as well. The "Armed And Dangerous" DVD is one of them...

Yes, the trick is the different attribute movies must be placed on different physical 'tracks' on the DVD.
You will need to use an author program that supports tracks.

I suppose most decent authoring programs will support tracks, I know TMPGenc DVD Author does

I use tracks for each thing I add onto DVD, weather its 2 movies or episodes, they all go on their own 'track'

Maybe I'm wrong doing this, anybody know, but it works and I have had no problems as such keeping things apart like this

  5. You must place them into different VTS.

Isengard is correct. The 16:9 must be on one VTS and 4:3 must be on another VTS.

DVD-Lab supports multiple VTS. I have use it to put both 16:9 and 4:3 on the same disk and it worked great. I'm sure there are more s/w that support multiple VTS, but I only use DVD-Lab.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........
