  1. Hi, I have an AVI file encoded with Xvid. I've tried to convert it to VCD using TMPGEnc, Mainsource Encoder (which in the infor box said it was DirectShow Import), All Video Converter, AVI Converter, and WinMPG but they all crash a little more than 50% into the process.

    GSpot says it is an OpenDML stream, and that I have 2 codecs for video installed and 4 for audio (mp3).

    DirectShow render gives this info.
    (S) --> AVI Splitter --> XviD MPEG-4 Video Decoder --> DivXG400 --> Subtitle Mixer --> (R)
    (S) --> AVI Splitter --> Moonlight Odio Dekoda --> Morgan Stream Switcher --> (R)

    Virtualdub says there is an improper VBR audio code.
    Does anyone know what DirectShow Import AVI is or can anyone offer any insight?
    Let me know if you need any more info.

    Thanks

    Because your avi has VBR audio you will need to convert to PCM wav. Open the movie in Virtualdub, go to the audio menu and select "full processing mode", go to the file menu and select "save wav". Use the wav file in TMPGEnc as your audio source.

    As for the video, try installing FFDSHOw. This usually helps TMPGEnc decode Xvid video.

  3. Have you checked for bad frames using Vdub ? This could be causing your encode to fall over half way through. Failing that try frameserving to TMPGenc from Vdub.

    Buddha says that, while he may show you the way, only you can truly save yourself, proving once and for all that he's a lazy, fat bastard.
