  1. I have a samsung tv and a philips player ,two weeks ago the tv went on standby while we were watching a dvd ,the tv went to the repairshop and they found nothing .They returned the tv yesterday and the tv went on standby after watching a dvd for 10 minutes .You cannot turn on the tv anymore ,the standby is blinking and that's it. I borrowed an tv from someone and again the tv went on standby after watching a dvd. Luckily I can turn this tv on again but I'm very puzzled about this problem. The dvd is connected through a scartcable to the tv . Has anybody had this problem before and a solution. Is there also someone who knows ,how to get the Samsung tv out of standby coz otherwise the tv has to go to the repairshop again.
    Greetings Marco

Usually unplugging it for about a minute will reset it to normal. Give me the model number of the Samsung and I will do some research.

Does this happen with other DVD plalyers? What is a scartcable? Does it happen with other inputs?

Thanks for all the answers .Chas the Samsung is a Plano Ws32M66 .
It doesn't help if the tv is unplugged ,it's just blinking on standby ,I only have one dvdplayer. A scart cable is the big cables to connect dvd to tv's

The problem with the dvdplayer is solved ,the scartcable was bad ,I used another one and everything is fine now ,I only have to get the Samsung out of standby.

I don't want to be too negative , but when the stand-by light on a TV is flashing it indicates a fault condition. I'm not familiar with the model you have - is it a UK model? Make sure when you turn it on there are no wires plugged in to it at all.

Modern TVs have too much protection in them and a fault in nearly any part of the set can cause them to go into a shutdown (ie stanby light flashing). The av are fed into a chip just inside the set , if you had a duff scart lead and a voltage touched the wrong pin on that chip it could have damaged it causing the problem. Is your TV still under warranty?
