    in say premiere 6.5, does anyone know if its possible to extract a section of an avi movie quite quickly?

  2. you could just cut the chunk out and re-encode to something else, though it might be easier in Vegas.

    or even faster in virtualdub -- cant really beat it for this type of thing in the speed dept. unless you can use avisynth really quickly ..
