I have an old analog camcorder with a lot of footage of the kids as they grew up that i'd like to convert to dvd. I have a gf4 with vivo, and a dvd writer (pioneer) and software (various inc media creator 7). I can see how vid is captured, but what about the audio - does that happen automatically. The software only refers to "video" cature and editing, and how to add "soundtracks" etc. I just want the original speech and baby noises etc. What do i do? - yes i do see there is an audio "out" hole on the cam corder and i assume i can connect that to the audio in on my soundcard but when i use say roxio (or ulead or whatever) does it capture the vid and aud at same time. Sorry if i seem thick but this is new to me.![]()

Whatever software you use to capture will capture video and audio as long as you configure the settings properly and the audio out from your cam is plugged into line-in on your sound card.

I tried that myself using a Pinnacle box. It skipped so much I gave up. That box is now sitting in a landfill somewhere.
Send those tapes out to a pro and save the yourself the grief. Some people have had more success then me. Go ahead and roll the dice.

Sure, send the tapes to a pro and get charged a few hundred dollars or learn and do a proper job like a few thousand here who capture with great results(myself included).
