I was using SmartRipper, but it didn't copy all of the main movie files (4 files), but the movie was complete with just 3 vobs on my hard drive. I used DVD2AVI to open the vob files and moved the bar thing on the bottom to the end, and it did reach the end of the movie. I proceeded to encode the movie for VCD and sure enough, the movie was complete, but I don't know why.
The last vob file (vts_01_4) on the DVD is 930MB, but my last vob file on my hard drive (vts_01_3) was only 620MB. Although everything turned out find, I want to know what was going on here. Can someone explain to me how the fourth vob file on the DVD was not needed for the encoding?

Have you played the fourth VOB file to confirm it is part of the movie. Perhaps it is some of the extra junk on the DVD.

I finally got around to check it out, and you are correct. It turns out that a part of the vts_01_3 file contained both the movie and some extras and all of the vts_01_4 file is extras. I always thought that extras used a file name separate from the main movie files. In this case, the main movie file is vts_01_**, so I just assumed the extras would be anything but vts_01_**.Originally Posted by ntloser
Another interesting thing is that the main movie files are over 1GB instead of the usual 0.99GB. I wonder why this is.
