  1. Hi all,

I've got a bunch of MP4 files which I want to get onto DVD.
I began converting them by dropping them into TMPGENC then stripping out the audio from the original file with GRAPHEDIT and combining the two on DVD.

Then my 3ivx trial codec ran out and everything went to hell.

I bought and installed the 3ivx decoder. Now when I do the same operation as above my video is completely out of sync. (The audio is the same as before so I'm assuming the video is different.)

    I've tried the following:
    1) Converting the video to AVI with QUICKTIME. This yields a good synch video but the first few seconds are black every time. I also get an error when I load it into Quicktime. "file.mp4 is encoded using a MPEG-4 profile that QuickTime currently does not support."

    2) Converting the video and audio together to an AVI using GRAPHEDIT. This yields the same end product as TMPGENC, an out of synch video.

    3) Converting the file to AVI with MP4UI. Same as above.

    4) Converting the file using MP4 DIRECT MAKER. Same result as #1. MP4DM seems to rely heavily on QT.

so, I am in desperate need of one simple task. I want to rip out the video so that it is in synch with the audio, preferably in the form of an AVI so that I can feed it into TMPGENC to encode to DVD. Any help would be very much appreciated. If I can give any more information just point me in the right direction.

    Thanks a ton.

Have you tried using the TMPGEnc MOV Plugin so that you can re-encode the actual .mp4? You'll need to have a current version of Quicktime installed for it to work.

  3. Yup,

That is actually the way I started out. With the MOV plugin and the trial version of 3ivx. It seemed to do the trick until the 3ivx codec ran out.

I even tried reinstalling the trial version of 3ivx and rolling my clock back. This allowed me to use the orignal codec but whatever happened has stuck, and I got the same results as with the new one. Out of synch video.

Do the wav and m2v lengths at least match? If so the out of sync may be caused by the frame rate conversion from 44100hz to 48000hz(assuming your source is 44100hz). You might want to try resampling the wav before encoding in TMPGEnc.

There are a couple of other decoders you can try too as a last resort.

For mp4 video- Mpegable DS Decoder

    For AAC audio Core AAC

On my system I have 3ivx hadling the video and Core AAC handling audio. It's even depicted that way in Graphedit. I've never had a problem demuxing this way.

  5. The wav and m2v files are the same length.

I'm going to try the Core AAC decoder now.

Just to make sure, this is how I set it up in Graphedit:

    FILE.Mp4 to 3ivx D4 Media splitter

    Video to AVI Mux
Audio to CoreAAC Audio Decoder then to AVI Mux

    AVI Mux to File writer...

    does this sound correct?

  6. no go on the AAC decoder.

same problem as before, out of synch in the same way

I'm trying TMPENC again after installing the new decoder.

  7. I had a few problems with the 3ivX package. On a clean install while opening a MKV file through Directshow in TMPGEnc the thing suddenly expired. The thing seems to expire for no reason sometimes.

So i found the REG entries to delete and make a reinstall work.

    Interested?

Is it alright to post such a thing?

Probably not considering that it's payware, but thank you anway.

Did you look into my sampling rate theory?

  9. I did try the resampling.

I get the exact same wave as before and therefor out of synch...

  10. Well i thought i'd better ask first, its at least questionable to me.

Have you considered a version of 3ivX before the time limit?
    http://www.komputerswiat.pl/include/download/download.asp?sciezka=/Programy/kodeki/3vix_delta

The old file should provide MP4 demuxer filter but i'm unsure if it will connect to Non-3ivX filters.

Try resampling the 44100hz wav to 48000hz mp2 with FFMPEGgui, then mux the mp2 with the m2v in TMPGEnc(File>MPEG Tools>Simple Multiplex).

  12. Almost sounds like the MP4 had an audio offset that is being lost when streams are decoded separately.

I've had descent success encoding MP4 in TMPGEnc without the QuickTime plugin. If a media file will play through DirecShow, then it will usually load into TMPGEnc through DirectShow.

Matroska works great with just one Audio, and one Video stream. MP4 usually works without a hitch. OGM is the only thing that is unpredictable in TMPGEnc. (for me)

What happens if you disable QTReader in VFAPI tab and "Open / All Files"?

  13. Matroska did it!

Wow what a difference! The audio turns out much better than the 3ivx audio decoder ever did, AND I can decode directly in TMPGENC all in one go.

Thanks so much for the advice.

Looking forward to many happy hours of viewing.

    Thanks again everyone.

I was kinda wondering that myself.

  16. After trying the AAC Core decoder suggested by teegee420, I thought, what the hell, and tried installing the Matroska decoder you mentioned.

I ran the files again through TMPGENC and they're perfect. Better than they turned out before my problems started.

So I guess there was just some bad stuff going on with the 3ivx decoder. Now (as GRAPHEDIT depicts it) I'm running CoreAAC Audio Decoder and FFDSHOW MPEG-4 Video decoder out of the 3ivx Media Splitter.

    This works fantastic.

Great audio in synch with the video.

It also supports my thoughts that it was the video which had problems, because the only thing which has changed is the FFDSHOW decoder.

According to the graph Matroska isn't being used to render at all. I wonder how it worked. Oh well. You got it working, that's all that matters. Good job.

  18. I'm still confused!

What decoder, Matroska Pack? Maybe there was an important filter missing and it was replaced by Matroska Pack.

I think this is just a misunderstanding that worked out well.
    Quote Quote
  19. I suppose so...

The only thing I see as different is the video decoder...

and it changed after I installed the Matroska codec....

    I'm happy,
    It's working,

    Thanks for all your help...

  20. Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!

It used FFDShow decoder instead of 3ivX decoder.

The 3ivX splitter is kinda picky, i'm surprised it allowed a connection to FFDShow.
