  1. I have a divx file:

    Name.........: name withheld
Filesize.....: 695 MB (or 712,673 KB or 729,777,196 bytes)
    Runtime......: 01:31:44 (131,974 fr)
    Video Codec..: DivX 5.0
    Video Bitrate: 926 kb/s
    Audio Codec..: 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3
    Audio Bitrate: 128 kb/s (64/ch, stereo) CBR
    Frame Size...: 656x368 (1.78:1) [=41:23]

the sound was very low, so i loaded into Goldwave and modified/raised the volume of the file. Once that was completed i loaded the divx file in the video and the modified audio file in the audio.

after it was finished i went back and ran the video to conform it was all good and there was huge green blob filling the screen and many more foul ups in the video. It was totally worthless.... So i went thru the whole process again thinking i made a mistake somewhere and the second run came out the same. any ideas?

  2. Yes. You've downloaded a shit quality movie from somewhere. Bin the shit quality movie and either use a decent P2P service or buy the DVD.

That's probably the best advice you can get. Garbage in = garbage out.

    A Runtime of 01:31:44 at a Video Bitrate of 926 kb/s.

    haha..
Anything below 1500 kb/s is crap even for a vcd.

a vcd is 1150 so raising the bit rate to 1500 means it isn't even a vcd. Also bear in mind this is a divx file NOT mpg1 compression, IIRC its supposed to work with lower bitrates.

    People do suck though.
