  1. Is there a tool to estimate the file size or time length of an mpeg2 before it is encoded ?

If you have calculated the bitrate you will now how big it will be http://www.vcdhelp.com/vcdtools.htm#calc

but you must use either a constand bitrate or an average bitrate in the encoder....you can't use for example in tmpenc a "constant quality" then you dont know how big it will be.

The time length should be the same as the original video source...

  3. Sorry...im getting frustrated with this petic movie..
Its total avi running time is 88mins and file size is 718meg
When split up is 44mins at around 360meg each..
So i used the calc and it says for a 44min movie you would use 1116 bitrate at 480x480,29.7 fps,48/hz for sound...
But when i encode to mpeg2 the file size is 1.4gig for just one part...is 44mins long but def wont fit on cd with nero...it gives me a nasty look... p

  4. actually fitcd says at 44mins...2264kbps/max2520kbps which gives a total of 12766960 bytes..
then again still wont fit even when i reduce the cdr kbps down to 1300.....using the lowest, fastest video settings...

  5. And fitcd says the estimated encoding size would be 12766960 bytes.. but its 1.4gig...and im still and air head......

    44 minutes, CD-R size 80 min,
average video bitrate 2264, audio bitrate 224
-->729610KB video filesize + 72188KB audio file size
muxed with TMPG and authored with Nero. That's your settings, is it?
You will fit it onto a 80min CD-R easily.

  10. well i still think the movie is the prob since i did star wars in 3 cd's no prob and it was an 810meg 90min movie..didnt have these probs at all...when i encoded those parts, the encoded size was bout double the size of the avi part...each part was about 345megs and when encoded turned out on nero after burning about 680meg or so ea...so im thinking the way this movie is acting it maybee highly compressed and when uncompressed its huge......

  11. as far as muxing goes...i havent done that yet...i just load up into tmpgenc and set my bitrate for svcd then get with it.....

  12. ok i encoded the movie with your settings and it started out as 44mins long...after encoding tried to author with nero...nero says that the movie is a 131:56:19 mpeg2 and wont fit on an 80min cd.......
