I have a avi video that is encoded in DivX 5 and VBR audio. I used VirtualDub to extract the audio and since VirtualDub doesn't support VBR it converts the audio to CBR. Okay, I now have a 271MB PCM wav file, since I want to save space when I copy the video to DVD I'm going to convert the wav file to 48000Hz mp2.

My question is, should I use Headac3he to convert the wav using VBR or CBR? I was thinking VBR because the orginal audio is VBR, and then comes my second question which is when using VBR is a higher number better quality or lower number? and what should I set the bitrate to?
The further away I get from the things that I care about...
the less I care about how much further away I get...

I think you should use CBR mp2. You run the risk of your player choking on VBR audio.

I'm pretty sure that the higher the percentage the better quality for VBR settings.
