I just bought a couple anime DVDs at the request of my son, but knowing how he is with his other movies, I would like to make backups of them for him so that If they get damaged, at least the originals are still in good condition.
They are: GateKeepers vol. 1 & 2, and Noir Vol. 1, 2 & 3
I was able to backup both GateKeepers discs just fine, as they fit onto a DVD-R fine. But I can't get the Noir to fit properly.
These are the first DVDs I'm every trying to backup so I'm not entirely sure what to do. I tried using dvd decrypter to get the VOB files, IFO files and BUP files. I know they wont fit onto a single disc, so as a friend mentioned to use dvd shrink. So, I tried that.
I shrunk the menus and extras as much as possible, so that the main videos wouldn't be as bad, but now when I burned it, it loads up later into the disc and not the menu. Is there a way to fix that?
TIA to anyone willing to help me with this!

If you press the menu button on your remote, do you come back to the menus ? And if so, do they function ?
If you used shrink in back up mode, everything should work that same as the original, only with lower quality in the heavily compressed parts. If you used re-author mode, then the menus will become stills/clips with no function (pretty pointless, if you ask me).
Try shinking again, making sure you use Back up, not re-author. Maybe do a test burn to a DVD RW to make sure it works before committing for the ages (or until your son scratches the crap out it, whichever comes first)

Not sure about the menus, though thanks for the ideas. I think I may have use re-author instead of backup. I guess I shall try it and post a follow up with the results!
