  1. I have downloded some programs to convert my video files to vcd so I can play them in my dvd player. The video I really want to play on vcd won't work! The others will. I don't know why. It's the same kind of file as the others. Is there anyway programs I can download to convert it to make it work?? and a good and easy program I can use. Nero Vision was easy, but it didn't add the video I really wanted to be on VCD. I tried TMPGEnc, but that won't work eithier. Can someone please help me out? Thanks so much.

I'm sure you could get TMPGEnc to work if you explained more about what you're doing and sources etc.

  4. GRRRRRR. I just downloaded VCDEasy and it won't add a certain video! UGH. It adds the other videos, but it just won't add this one. It's so annoying. It's an MPEG file just like the others. I think it's a smaller picture when I play it on windows media player, but it's still the same file as the others. Is there any program that I can use to make the video file work???? Please help! Thanks.

I also used TMPGEnc, but the video file won't work with that eithier.

look at the Glossary on the left. an SVCD is like a VCD but with higher resolution and supports higher bitrates. you can burn a svcd the same way as you would burn a vcd and can play it in most standalone dvd players. theres plenty of guides on this site about how to burn and svcd.

  10. I did d/l Nero before and it wouldn't add the video file I wanted, it added the other videos but not the one I really want. I used that program to make my first VCD. I unistalled it after the day expire. I tried to download it again, but it said I need a serial # that came with my cd.

  11. Hi Star2004!
First of all, it's very important that the resolution, bitrate, audio etc. is correct encoded if you want to make a VCD or SVCD. I suggest you take a look in the "What is" section in the site.

Secondly, you'll need a program to encode your mpeg-file. VCDEasy is a very good program for authoring VCD and SVCD, but it's not a encoder.

TMPGEnc is IMHO the best encoder for VCD and SVCD, because it produces very high quality output files.

Nero Burning Rom is a very good burning program, where you can burn VCD, SVCD and DVD.

If you think that the programsI have recommended is hard to use, I then suggest you take a look in the guides. There's a lot of very detailed guides of how to use these programs. If you look in a guide and then still don't understand how to do it, and recommend you to come back with a detailed question of which part in the guide you where looking in that you didn't understand.

Ok, TMPGEnc is confusing lol. I tried different options but the video just won't work. Can someone help me?
Again, look in the guides and if you don't understand, then tell us which part you have problem with. Also provide us with a link to witch guide you're looking in. That way you'll have better chances getting help from other users. You can't expect anybody here to help you if you're just telling us that TMPGEnc is confusing.

What you are trying to do is pretty basic stuff. Are you using the wizard in TMPGEnc? As the last post said, when you get a specific problem then ask again with details.

It would be much much more helpful if you could post the exact error message TMPGEnc is giving you.

"It won't work" doesn't help anyone.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  14. ok When I use TMPGEnc, it says Filename.mpg cannot be created!

I'm new to this stuff so this is all confusing. UGH I wish it was easier lol.

  15. Ok I tried TMP again and I got it to encode I think. It went to 100% and I saved the file. So I have 2 copies of the video and it says it's the same type of file. I'm gonna try to d/l Nero again and see what happens.

Since Star2004 managed to have TMPGEnc read the file, this may not apply, but perhaps what is needed is a codec because Windows Explorer does not usually distinguish between Mpeg-1, Mpeg-2, Mpeg-4(Divx), Mpeg-4(WMV) and Mpeg-4(Quicktime) until they are played.
