I am currently using Vegas 4 to edit, rendering to a new AVI, and encoding MPEG2 with tmpgenc. Does anybody know how the quality of MPEG2 encoding is in Vegas 5? Is it worth upgrading to use the "one-stop shop?"

i would not upgrade to vegas 5 ONLY just because of the encoder changes (you have two pass VBR for example) ... not worth it for THAT reason alone ..

at the cost of the upgrade ($199) , you could buy main concept standalone and CCE basic or tmpgenc
