  1. Can DVDinfopro v2.47 set the booktype on an NEC 2500A with the Herrie firmware upgrade (bitsetting firmware) 1.07?
    Thanks.

  2. 2500a does bitsetting with official firmware. you don't need to hack it. it's one of the features NEC included in this unit from the get-go.

I don't think so, I have a 2500A and it never supported bitsetting.Iam using a modified Hp 520n Firmware from the danerous brothers that makes it dual layer capable plus supports bitsetting

  5. Once set as default with DVDinfopro, which DVD-burning programs will use the booktype default rather than their own? I have heard that Nero uses its own idea of the booktype instead of using the burner's default. I have heard that RecordNow Max will use the default booktype, but I don't wish to buy yet another DVD-burning program.

  6. I use Dvd bitsetter....didn't like dvdinfopro, it did not work with my nec

    go here http://www.dvdplusrw.org/Article.asp?mid=0&sid=2&aid=44

nec does not burn as dvd-rom by default, that is bogus......maybe he uses some burning software that does that for him.

  8. DVD Bitsetter is documented to work only for Ricoh-based drives. Are you saying that it works for the NEC 2500A (with modified firmware) also?

Nero is known to override the default booktype.
(Earlier versions for sure, I don't know about the latest version)

    @ lenti_75 and jbelder
I'd be surprised if DVD Bitsetter worked with other drives than Ricohs

It's a Modified Hp520n Firmware which would be the Nec 2510A rebadged. So now my drive also supports dual layer as well as bitsetting.

  12. Right, but what does it have to do with the program named DVD Bitsetter

    Who told me that?
Well, Nic Wilson told me that a year ago and then I experienced it
    Folks,

Please see the new version now available (V0.43) that allows default modes to be set for +R and +RW

Keep in mind that NERO 5.5 or 6.0 is useless for the default booktype settings as it overrides them if you want it to or not, there is no way it seems to stop it stomping on the default settings even if you disable booktype.

Record Now does not have that problem and will burn in whatever book defaults you choose and set.

    cheers

    Let me explain:

You set the default booktypes to DVD-ROM with your software
But when burning with Nero you forget to check the 'Booktype DVD-ROM' option then the disc will be burned as DVD+R.

At least that used to be the case.

They might have fixed it by now.

I've used dvd bitsetter as well as dvd info pro to bitsett both programs work fine. I haven't had any software override the book type including nero or any others. It always stays as DVD-Rom and I've never checked it in nero.
