  1. Hello,
I have a Panasonic DMR-E50 Recorder. When I'm done recording a VHS to DVD, I finalize it and then use the recorder to check the audio which turns out fine. I then try the DVD-R on the DGE GE 505N DVD Player and the sound is fine there too but when I try the disc on an RCA RC5510p DVD player, there's no sound at all. I'm thinking it's the audio output from the recorder on the Audio screen from setup that's the problem? What should the settings be when recording?

What if changing the audio output from the recorder doesn't help? I also have the recorder connected to an old amp receiver. Could it also be the connection? I'm not sure about that though because it works on the DGE GE 505N DVD player.

The E50 records in Dolby Digital (AC3). Are you sure your RCA player is compatible with that? By "audio output" do you mean the format? If you've tried LPCM audio and it still doesn't work then you have other problems. I still think it's a player issue or a cabling issue with the additional amp.

  3. I think the problem, probably lies in the player itself not liking the media. You say it is hooked up to an amp, what does it sound like through the tv speakers normally ?.
    If it's wet, drink it

I also tried recording with the amp off and got the same result. By Audio Output I mean where it gives you the options to either use (L)PCM or bitstream. Also PCM conversion is either ON or Off. I checked my RCA main menu where it says "Audio Output" and there's the option for Dolby Digital (48Khz/16 bit) which you choose either "LPCM or NO." Tried both of those options and got the same result.

The thing that has me puzzled is that a friend of mine gave me a disc which he recorded using the same recorder and his disc works on all 3 units that I've tried??? Audio through the TV sounds normal to me.

  6. I have tested the discs I made over my neighbors and they work fine there too. Very strange.
