  1. OK so I checked the forum for a similar post and I found one way back posted by "Oggy", but my problem occurs a little differently. So I feel I need to make a new post.

So I'm converting WMV files to SVCD format using the trial version of TMPGENC. If I follow the steps outlined in this guide,

    www.videohelp.com/tmpgencsvcd.htm

I have no problems. It converts fine.

But when I try to improve the video quality by changing some of the settings, the computer will shut down after 10 mins of converting. Even If I change only one setting, such as in the "Motion Search Precision", to High Quality (slow), the computer will still shut down.

I'm using a Compaq Presario 710US notebook, 256 RAM, 996mhz AMD, 80 GB HD. Probably not the best thing to use to convert, but this is all I have for now.

    Why does my computer shutdown?

Is it because of overheating problems? Does it shut down because I'm trying to adjust the settings to get better quality and thus it overheats my computer?

Or is it because I'm using the free download version on TMPGEnc?

Any help, insight would be appreciated.

    Thanks
