  1. The nec nd-1100a is suposed to write dvd+r in 4x but mine won't.

In nero the highest speed I can choose is 2.4x
I was thinking it could be the firmware and I found a firmware update on nec's homepage, but to be able to install it the driver had to have Firmwareversion version 1.A0
Nero InfoTool says my firmware is 1.90. How can I install the latest firmware on my drive, or get the driver to burn in 4x?

  2. Extract the last 634888 bytes from the flash .exe file (starting at 00090600h) to get the firmware in .bin format, then use TDB's DOS flasher: http://tdb.rpc1.org/

  4. The firmware will be the same if you extract it from the original .exe but you will have to use a "third part" flash tool.
If you really must use "an official" updater you can try this 1.91 firmware. It's much older and has no support for burning +R with DVD-ROM book type but still newer than the one you have now so if you're lucky it will support your media @4x (what kind of media is it, what's the media code?).
