There are a plethora of DVd ripping and backup programs but most DVD movies do not fit on existing DVDR since almost inevitably.
In my case I end up using DVDShrink most of the time and hence loss of quality is unavoidable unless I use DVDCopy.
My question is Do DVDR media vary in size?Is there a media that will allow to fit an entire movie in it or overburn? Thanks

Now, how in the hell do you fit more on a DVD with DVD Copy, than you do with Shrink?

If you have a 6 gig movie rip, you will not fit it with DVD Copy unless you shrink it in some way, or span 2 disks. If you want to span, go ahead.

I defy you to show me that you can see degraded output on a Shrunk movie, unless you have a 60' screen.

Most anything canbe fitted to 1 disk and be of outstanding quality. Some eagleeyes here dispute that, but they're the same ones who insist on 512 kbps audio, or somesuch.

    Cheers,

Well said - quality loss is usually unnoticeable, but u can refer to that testing guide that's listed somewhere in the guide where they show the difference in preformance between the different apps. (I still use Shrink by the way...)

obviously - that is also well said - whatever u get is better than "lame" dvd-rips... :P
With all due respect... and there is respect...

  4. dvd-r will hold a few more megs than a dvd+r, but not enough to make any significant difference. dual layer recorders should be out in the next few months.. but you're going to pay a pretty penny for the blanks..

I was going to, initially, yank your chain, and say yes, they do come in different sizes.

8 cm and 12 cm, 1.8 gig and 4.7 gig..

Then I thought, nah, that wouldn't be nice.

Rip and shrink, I am pleased with all the Shrinks I have done.

    Cheers,

    George
