Hi guys ! Did someone ever tried to encode some mangas or animation things on SVCD ??? (I'm using TmpgEnc) It's really hard on high motion scenes coz I get lots of artifacts and it looks really ugly ! I tried lots of differents encoding processes (2passVBR, VBR, CQ VBR, CBR,) But I have to stay below 2600Kbits/sec ! Does anybody knows if changing the GOP structures helps on high motion scene ? (like changing 1.5.2 to 1.3.2 ...) or maybe change the Matrix ? Thanks.

  2. In TMPGEnc there's a setting in Quantize Matrix tab of the settings bit, normally it says default, click on the pulldown and choose CG/Animation. Also try adding a smoothing filter or something to try and break up the solid colour edges a little

Actually this web site would fit you completely I think
    http://www.inwards.com/~dbb/

The only downside it's almost all NTSC based, but it's easy enough to "convert" to PAL
