hi everyone. iam trying to backup my copy of the last samurai , and now and then this movie has subtitles that pop up when japanese dialogue is spoken. ive tried using dvd shrink, copying the main movie but these occassional subs dont appear. ive had this problem before with kill bill, the lord of the rings (when elfish is spoken ), could anyone please help.

There are two English subtitle tracks for this film. One is the regular subtitle and the other is the forced subtitles. Keep both and you will have the Japanese translation subtitles.

You need to keep the english (or whatever language you want) subs for the main movie part.

You will probably have to adjust the subs settings on your dvd player- that is what I had to do with Kill Bill Vol 1
Provided you kept the subs when you did the movie only
