I have a 733 p3 and I capture using a dc30 pro to 60 gb external ADS kit firewire drive with a 5400 rpm hd inside.
Are kit firewire drives just inferior?
Should I just live with it?
Should I swap the internal drive to a 7200 rpm?
Should I get an internal ATA?

The general rule is that you need a 7200 rpm to capture without dropping frames.

Where did you come up with that rule?
You can definitely capture without framedrop on a 5400 rpm drive if you are using some sort of AVI compression.
imdanwhou, that is quite a small frame drop... Does it interfere with the video playback in anyway (e.g., skipping). If you don't even notice it, I would just live with it.

As virtualis says that's nothing to worry about, your gonna drop a few frames (windows media player drops something like 14 every 200 on playback, check in the properties if you don't believe me).
