    @gmatov

Well I live in Pittsburgh, PA and I can tell you that BEST BUY (various locations) almost always have the 10-pack FUJI DVD-R discs in stock.

They say MADE IN JAPAN on the package. Please note this is only the DVD-R 10-packs.

K-mart in our area also carry the 5-pack of FUJI DVD-R discs and these also say MADE IN JAPAN. Overpriced for sure but just recently they were on sale and I bought a whole bunch. So now I always check out the K-mart paper to see if they will go on sale again (the first sale was in the paper).

Some (though not all) of the Wal-Marts in our area also carry the 10-packs of MAXELL DVD-R discs and these say MADE IN JAPAN. I've had the best luck finding these at the Wal-Mart in Cranberry. The one near Century 3 never seems to have them in stock.

So you either are very unlucky or looking at the wrong packages! :P

Still haven't been to an OfficeMax yet ... maybe tomorrow!

    John.

I don't go to Cranberry, I go to Greensburg, and Monroeville. Again, if I have ever seen a MIJ package, I must have had a block. NONE!!!

Will have to take the camera and do a macro to see if you can read MIJ on any of the packages. My old eyes might just have missed it.

    Cheers,

    George

BTW, then too, my son-in-law works in Cranberry, designing kitchens, some in the 50-75 thou neighborhood, so maybe they send the subpar disks to us way out here in the sticks.

Hell, Ibuilt my house for half that!!!

Well try the BEST BUY in Monroeville or the the Wal-Mart on route 30 in North Versailes.

I haven't been to either of those locations in a while.

Also there is an OfficeMax back behind the mall in Monroeville and they have an unadvertised special on FUJI media which includes the coveted 10-pack DVD-R discs that say MADE IN JAPAN.

My guess is that sale is only good through Saturday.

Even without the sale people tell me the normal price for the FUJI 10-pack is cheaper at OfficeMax than BEST BUY so there you go.

Cheapest of all though is the 10-pack Maxell MADE IN JAPAN DVD-R discs at Walmart. Price is $16.86 or some odd ball cent figure like Walmart likes to use.

I lived in Murrysville so I know Monroeville well but now I live close to downtown and never go to Monroeville anymore.

    Where is Greensburg hehehe :P

Hell even when I lived in Murrysville and Greensburg was not too far away I still never ever went there. Way too "backwards" "backwoods" for me.

    John,

Surely you jest! The only times I wemt to Murrysville was to go to Bob's Bar, 1 street back from 22.

But nothing's there anymore. Just a paas through. But, man, down the road, big business galore.

I have looked at all the media here and none is Japanese made. Maybe, as I say, just send it to high income areas.

Regardless, the stuff I do buy works well for me, and most says Ricoh, Japan, although the CompUSA 1`X -Rs do burn well, just that I can only play them on my Philips 724, or my one kid's Apex. Nischt else.

    Ah, well.

    Cheers,

    George

what's that got to do with OFFICE MAX 25% UNADVERTISED SALE?

  7. Well, technicly it doesn't, but since you guys here seem to know about DVDR media, then what better place to ask the question then where all the best of the people who buy DVD media gather regarding price and quality of it?

Besides, if it's good quality media and for cheap, wouldn't you guys gain from this knowledge as well ? it certainly would be cheaper then the 25% no ?

  8. I just wasted $44 on Sonic DVD +R's. Bought a spindle of $100 from Shop4Tech and I burned 6 out of 6 coasters. These really bite. I post the info on these discs tomorrow.

  9. Thank you abospaum! you are the second person to report that (first one was kind enough to email me about it, which I appriciate!) so at your advice, i'll avoid those. I just can't afford anything expensive, and what seems cheap for some of the people here, is VERY expensive for me

  10. Just some helpful forum posting advise Sefy,

You'd probably get more responses by opening a new thread. Some people get a little perturbed when non-related questions are asked in their thread....they call it hijacking.

It also makes it easier for others to find the information.

(not to be taken as a flame....this time)

    Thanks

  11. Thanks Hawseman
Although the question is a bit in relation, as both the title and my question are for Cheap DVD media, but i'll refrain next time since it seems to bug people.
