    Hi

I have been struglling all day with this one. My digital camcorder supports DV in/out and USB. When connecting via USB it works fine. I have no decice control is MSP7 but it does work.

I really need DV out and am struggling. Just recently I have transferred some old analogue video8 tapes using firewire from a friends digital8 camcorder. However this was using my cam as the receiver.

I have switched the unit on (towards play) and tried two different types of cable. One was 4-4 and the other was 4-6. The 4-4 I know works as I used it in the transfer above. Its like theres no camera there at all. Nothing!

Heres the strange one. I have also tried my other PC which has a firewire connector and this has the same effect. Nothing!

    Heres my PC.

    Windows XP Pro SP1
    Athlon XP 2500+
    Radeon 9200 VIVO 128MB
    120GB 7200 HDD
    MSI k7N2 Delta-ILSR (Nforce2)
    ...

Am I being totally stupid? There shouldn't be any drivers required should there? I really need help with this one? I'm wondering if I need to buy the JVC 1394 cable as they mention it in bold in the manual, but I'm loathed to do so as it costs a packet.

    TIA

  2. Hi Darren,

I am experiencing the exact same problem with this camcorder. I have purchased one of the branded Firewire cards they specify on their site, but still no joy. Although I I have not used a specific JVC branded firewire cable.

If you do figure out what the problem is I would be greatful if you would post the solution. I have tried contacting JVC support several times but am yet to get any help from them.

    Thanks,

    Stuart

    Hi

If the firewire port works and the DV camcorder does not then its a fault with the camcorder. My camera was confirmed faulty by JVC support. They could not justify it any other way. It worked via USB but failed via firewire. My firewire ports worked fine without the camera.

I am wondering if this is a problem with this camera. Mine was sent back as it was only about 6 months old and I was sent a brand new one. It works faultlessly now!
